What We Do

REED Academy is a private non-profit school for children with autism spectrum disorders.

REED is committed to providing students with a highly individualized educational program that incorporates science-based, applied behavior analytic intervention. Our primary goal is to maximize each student’s abilities to function with the greatest degree of independence possible.

Instruction is provided on a 1:1 basis as appropriate. As students progress in developing social, self-help, recreational, and academic skills, this ratio is often reduced to better prepare students to participate in school and community activities with greater independence.

REED Academy is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education to serve students from 3 to 21. Our future plans include the development of an adult services program. Each student’s program is highly individualized and consists of between 25 and 35 objectives that address a variety of curricular areas.

REED is administered by its Executive Director with the assistance of the School Principal, Clinical Director, Assistant Clinical Director and Clinicians who serve as lead teachers and who oversee each child’s curriculum. The Clinical Director, Assistant Clinical Director and lead teachers who oversee each child’s curriculum. All instructional paraprofessionals have attained a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

The school year at REED is 210 days which includes a 30-day extended school year program. Our day runs from 9AM to 2:45PM Monday through Friday.
